Ooooookay …….. I think I need to shift the focus of this blog a bit ;)

I’ll keep the blog running while changing the layout – you’ll get articles with the usual intervals, just be patient a bit with the final design, please.

And feel free to give feedback while I’m working.

Due to the fact that my webhost moved my domain to a server on which MySQL 5.x is running (in order to get my gallery running), which causes bugs with WordPress versions <2.0, I am currently updating my WordPress Blog to the newest version 2.3.

Please be patient with the design, I will be working on the blog the next few weeks trying to get it “back to black” *cough* I mean back to normal as soon as possible.

It is the perfect time for suggestions now, by the way.

I wrote my webhost JBhosting an email about that problem, and got an instant reply: they upgraded the MySQL version today to 5.0.51, and immediately downgraded it back to 5.0.45 as soon as they received my email. Now, I already have updated WordPress (which was quite a bit of work), and don’t think I’ll return to the old version. It’s time for a few changes.

I browsed an hour through the new 2.3 themes, and installed a few dark ones for the start – I don’t want you guys to get eye cancer with all the light blue and white in the default theme.

Alrighty, I’m finished with the basic looks of the new layout. A lot of fine-tuning work still has to be done, and I’d appreciate your comments, ideas, criticism, wishes et cetera …

Lebenswert: der Support von jbhosting.de, bei denen ich meine Domain für diese Seite habe.

(1) Ich schreibe Ihnen am Donnerstag, dass einige Funktionalitäten der zukünftigen Gallerie nicht auf mysql 3.x laufen, und ob sie meine Domain eventuell auf einen Server umziehen könnten, der mysql 5.x hat.
(2) Ich kriege nach keiner halben Stunde die Antwort, dass das (natürlich kostenfrei) möglich ist und nur wenige Sekunden dauert, dass ich aber eben die config files des Blogs und der Gallerie auf die neue mysql Adresse umändern muss.
(3) Ich bedanke mich, gebe an dass ich nicht genau weiß, wo diese files liegen, aber dass ich die schon finden werde, und ob der Umzug bald stattfinden könne.
(4) Heute, am Samstag (!!), kriege ich eine Email:

Hallo, ich habe mir die Freiheit genommen und Ihren Webspace einfach mal nach dem String [alte mysql Adresse] durchsucht. Der Server ist lediglich in der [...] Konfiguration unter [...] eingetragen. Ich habe die Datenbank fuer Sie umgezogen und den besagten Eintrag aktualisiert. Entsprechend sollte es nun im WordPress Setup stehen. Bitte pruefen Sie noch einmal die Funktionalitaet Ihrer Webseite. Konfigurieren Sie die Gallery und alle zukuenftigen Anwendungen bitte
mit dem Hostnamen [...]. Ansonsten bleint alles wie gehabt. [...]

Also: wer einen absolut genialen Webhost sucht – ich kann euch jbhosting.de nur wärmstens ans Herz legen.

I am currently revamping this weblog completely, and as I’m too lazy to do if offline, you guys will just suffer from my experiments with a pink header :)

The work will continue at least the next 2 weeks, please be patient – and feel free to post any comment about
a) what you want to have implemented,
b) what completely sucks and should be changed, or even
c) what you actually do like.

Completed:

• Testing phase regarding the new layout, final version is far from finished yet, though. Have to work on the sidebar, the comments page, and some other stuff as well.
• Implemented an about me page.
• Implemented an links page.
• Revamped the impressum page – does anyone have an idea if this is the proper English term?

Meinungs-, Satire- und Blogfreiheit wird durch wirtschaftliche Übermacht unterdrückt. Sehr viele Abmahnungen werden mit der Finanzkraft des Abmahnenden durchgesetzt. In der Regel kommt es auch nicht zum Prozess, da der Abgemahnte im Hinblick auf die möglichen Kosten sofort klein beigibt. Das ist ein Verlust für das Recht, weil der wirtschaftliche Stärkere gewinnt. Und das kann es nicht sein.

Aufgrund technischer Schwierigkeiten kann ich im Moment keine Beiträge posten, ich hoffe das Problem ist bald behoben.

EDIT: Man sollte dann eben doch nicht immer alle Windows Anwendungen mit der Firewall blocken … abstruser Fehler. Ich konnte in Foren, BLOGS und WIKIs jeweils ca. 2 Zeilen posten, aber keinen Buchstaben mehr …

For all those incredibly curious people out there who are already missing comments and new entries: I am in mother Russia at the moment, Moscow, and will spend the next few days in St. Petersburg.

After that there will be lots of information about this trip :-)
