Brilliant. But is there a way back from consciousness? Or else, what can be the way forward for us poor chevaliers?

What a good question! It is a problem I see as well.
One cannot turn of self-reflection. Or is it possible, maybe?

I think it is impossible. Many authors wrote about it, some using the the expulsion from Paradise as metaphor. (Erich Fromm for example – I think it is even in “Die Kunst des Liebens”.)
And regarding the question “is there a way back from consciousness?”:
For whom?

Eiko, there seems to be something wrong with your “notify me …” thing – I only got notified about Benedikt’s reply, not yours. Maybe drop me a mail if you write again here or on the free will happiness chance thing.
I don’t think it’s possible to turn of self-reflection either. I feel a concept of a way forward comes from the mindfulness-acceptance framework – an accepting, self-loving awareness even and especially of the awkward (“funny”) and unpleasant experiences. Accept, maybe even enjoy how funny you look on a horse…
