If you despair of humanity, because of all the terror and torture and war and violence and xenophobia and other conservative nonsense – if you find people dull and stupid and egocentric, and if you can’t help but thinking of us as wolves fulfilling their primal urges and needs without the ability for compassion and altruism …
… the museum Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin is the place to go. It is a documentation about the separation of Germany after the second worldwar, about the regime of the DDR, about the Wall, and about the re-union on the 9th of November 1989.
So many stories of selfless people helping each other because they felt it was the right thing to do, so much daring activism against a supressive regime.
So much compassion and humanity.
