I just received an invitation to a workshop on “Evolution and Diseases of Civilization” by Professor Randolph Nesse (sic!) via Email.
The purpose of these workshops is to provide a select group of scientists and clinicians from around the world with an opportunity to address, in depth, specific questions about Evolution and the Diseases of Civilization. Despite much interest, the topic has not yet received the kind of intense interdisciplinary focus we will bring. We anticipate that the Workshop discussions will advance the research of many participants and lead to new ideas. We hope new connections and relationships will foster a sense of community and new collaborations among scientists from diverse disciplines who use evolutionary biology to study disease.
The workshop will have 5 subprojects, and I will take part in “Depression and mental disorders increasing frequency in modern environments”.
Wooohooo :p … I’m so happy !

Wow! Congratulations, that’s not only being invited to join the scientific community with a red carpet, it’s also probably the best part of science: talking to other smart people about issues that affect almost everyone.
